The document discusses the results of a survey given to students about saving energy. It finds that most students understand that saving energy means not wasting it, but they focus only on the economic benefits and do not consider the environmental impacts. While students agree that traditional energy sources have negative effects, they are unclear on the different environmental impacts of traditional versus renewable energy. The survey also examines students' individual energy saving habits and finds room for improvement in practicing more efficient behaviors.

(Brainstorming) to save or not to save
1. BRAINSTORMING ABOUT SAVING ENERGY
That’s the question
IES La Arboleda 2013 (Lepe, Spain)
1st Bachillerato Comenius students and teachers:
Ph Guadalupe Luna Sánchez Ph Vicente Maroto Falconet
Ph Patricia Piñero Rodríguez Ph Mª Ángeles Capela Torquemada
2. In order to get information about
the level of knowledge of our
students with respect to the
concept of saving water and
energy, several questions were
proposed.
After being answered individually,
the questions were discussed.

4. Survey on Saving Energy
BRAINSTORMING
What is the meaning of saving electrical energy?
Why should we save electrical energy?
What is the main disadvantage of the energetic
consumption?
Do all the energies present the same disadvantages?
Which advantages do the renewable energies have against
the non-renewable ones?
5. Survey on Saving Energy
What benefits do we get by saving electrical energy?
How important is your individual participation?
Why is necessary to save water?
What are the main uses of water in our daily life?
What is your attitude about the energetic and water
consumption in your daily life?
7. However, when they were asked
about the relevance of this
saving they just mentioned
the economic aspect, without
taking into account the
environmental influence.
8. Although most of them agreed
on the negative effect of the
use of some types of energy,
they didn't have a clear idea
about the different
environmental impacts of
traditional opposed to eco-
friendly energy.
9. In fact, when they were asked
about the bad points of each type
of energy, only 41% mentioned the
lower level of incidence of green
energy on pollution .
The rest made reference to the high
cost of alternative sources of
energy.
10. With respect to individual use,
100% of students admited the
relevance of having a pro
saving attitude. However only
70% considered that they were
saving as much as they could.
11. The rest, 30%, thought that
they could improve their
water and energy saving
habits since they were aware of
the relevance of this natural
resource in our daily life.
