Program Objectives:
•Understand the new requirements in the Mexican regulations for the
importation and market of food products (label regulations, permits and
certifications).
Introduction to Food Laws and Regulations in Mexico
There are several regulations to accomplish in order to export and market food products in Mexico. Those regulations are being amended to secure
healthier foods for the Mexican population. Labeling as well as import/export regulations are key elements to successfully market food products in
Mexico. The best method to avoid trade impediments at the border before exporting products to Mexico is to locate an experienced Mexican customs
broker. These brokers are authorized by the Mexican Internal Tax Registry to handle customs clearance operations. The Mexican government publishes
technical regulations) or standards often referred as NOM, in the Diario Oficial de la Federación (Official Gazette) - the Mexican equivalent of the U.S.
Federal Register.
Why Should you Attend:
New Mexican regulations for food products are the result of the so called "crusade against overweight and obesity" established by the current
government. For all food manufacturers this is a must study topic. This webinar will guide you on all export/import regulations to Mexico like an Export
Declaration is required by U.S. Customs for all shipments over US $2,500, importers need special permission for certain goods such as wine and many
more.
