General
Information:
Pre-‐Kindergarten
is
Federally
funded
program
which
is
also
called
Pre-‐K
title
I.
This
program
serves
children
ages
4
years
old
and
prepares
them
for
Kindergarten
in
Elementary
schools
in
the
county.
There
is
another
program
which
is
State
funded
and
called
North
Carolina
Pre-‐K
(NCPK).
Both
these
program
serve
English
as
a
second
Language
(ESL)
learners.
This
program
provides
for
students
under
(No
Child
left
Behind
Act
2001)
to
be
fluent
and
successful
in
English
language.
Philosophy:
To
promote
collaboration,
cooperation
among
students,
teachers
and
parents.
Its
goal
is
to
provide
with
safe,
rigorous,
engaging
learning
environment
for
all
children.
Our
all
efforts
are
to
welcome
parents
and
families
with
diversity.

Absences
and
Tardies:
A
child
must
arrive
on
campus
before
the
first
bell
at
7:45am
for
them
not
to
be
tardy.
After
the
first
bell
the
child
will
be
tardy
and
must
arrive
at
the
front
door
to
check
in.
A
child
should
not
have
more
than
6
tardies
between
each
grading
period.
Also
every
absence
should
have
proper
documentation
or
a
phone
call
from
the
parent.
For
continued
enrollment
in
this
program
child
must
not
be
out
for
3
consecutive
times.
These
absences
need
medical
note.
With
a
medical
note
child’s
absence
will
be
excused
or
else
unexcused.
Late
pick
up
will
be
allowed
as
long
as
the
concerned
parent
is
not
late
every
day
and
the
office
is
informed
about
the
delay
and
prior
arrangement
is
made
with
the
front
desk
in
writing.

Child

years
by
August
31,
for
the
same
year
enrollment.
Curriculum:
We
follow
“Creative
Curriculum”
with

Creative
curriculum
is
defined
as
what
children
are
like
and
how
they
develop
and
learn
in
terms
of
all
the

domains.
The
aim
of
this
frame
work
is
to
value
each
child’s
uniqueness
and
provide
them
a
learning
environment,
where
teachers
play
the
role
of
a
facilitator,
demonstrate
modeling
and
families
play
the
role
of
partners
with
teachers.
Curriculum
Domain:
Social/
Emotional,
the
main
focus
is
socialization,
developing
friendships,
control
antisocial
impulse
Curriculum
Domain:
Fine
and
Gross
motor,
which
has
to
do
with
child’s
physical
development.
The
main
focus
entails
coordination
of
fingers,
finger-‐thumb
coordination,
eye-‐hand
movement
are
fine
motor
where
as
jumping,
throwing,
kicking
,
riding
are
few
of
the
gross
motor
activities.

Language

Writing
development,
here
the
main
focus
is
on
listenning
skills,
receptive
language,
expressive
language,
emergent
language,
oral,
writing
(pennmanship).

here

focus
is
physical
knowledge,
logical
math,
critical
thinking
skills,
representational
knowledge,
common
sense.
