A simple yet powerful and secure monitoring daemon for Windows operating systems, this is what a NSClient++ aims to be. It is built for Nagios, but nothing in the daemon is actually Nagios specific and with little or no change NSClient++ could be also integrated into any monitoring software that supports running user tools for polling. In this presentation we are going to look at the new features of NSClient++ 0.3.x. But perhaps more importantly looking at what’s coming in the 0.4.x version!

Context: Software release teams try to reduce the time needed for the transit of features or bug fixes from the development environment to the production, crossing all the quality gates. However, little is known about the factors that influence the time-to-production and how they might be controlled in order to speed up the release cycles. Goal:This paper examines step by step the release process of an industrial software organization aiming to identify fac- tors that have a significant impact on the lead time and outcomes of the software releases. Method:Over 14 months of release data have been analyzed (246 releases from the isolated source code branches to the production environment). Results:We discuss three dimensions under which a series of factors could be addressed: technical, organizational, and interactional. We present our findings in terms of implications for release process improvements. Conclusions: Our analyzes reveal that testing is the most time consuming activities (86%) along with the need for more congruence among teams, especially in the context of parallel development.

Nowadays a lot of embedded system are connected to Internet. And every years, more devices are available in the market but without maintenance. Due to this situation, a lot of security issues raised which could compromised the lifetime of the product and the privacy of their users. To fix these bugs, these security issues or to add new features, updating remotely these systems on regular basis is very important. We have to think about update process for each new product, to be easy, reliable, efficient and not too costly for the required bandwidth or hardware performances. Several update designs are available to fit your requirements. Due to these constraints, you have to make choice and find the right balance. Hopefully one free software allows us to perform this task in a easy and flexible way: swupdate. This solution is very well integrated with U-boot, buildroot and Yocto. You can describe exactly how the update should be done. This talk is to explain the main designs to update an embedded system with pro and cons of all of them and then explain how to implement them with swupdate for your embedded system.

In both business and academia, reproducibility is the root of trust in computational results. Software engineering is critical to consistently support the work. Basic practices including systematic build, automatic tests, version control, and documentation will be discussed. The practices and a mix of programming languages enable developers to address the challenges in scientific computing by creating a flexible and high-performance platform. The fundamental idea is to generalize and segregate common constructs so that they can be reinforced during the whole cycles of code development, to enhance the confidence in the produced results. It is also necessary to engage in software development communities, as a means to improve productivity and give back.

When you’re building (micro)services, you have lots of framework options. Spring Boot is no doubt a popular choice. But there’s more! Take Quarkus, a framework that’s considered the rising star for Kubernetes-native Java. It always depends on what's best for your situation, but how to choose the best solution if you're comparing 2 frameworks? Both Spring Boot and Quarkus have their positives and negatives. Let us compare the two by live coding a couple of common use cases in Spring Boot and Quarkus. After this talk, you’ll be ready to get started with Quarkus yourself, and know when to select Quarkus or Spring Boot.

Retrieval augmented generation (RAG) is the most popular style of large language model application to emerge from 2023. The most basic style of RAG works by vectorizing your data and injecting it into a vector database like Milvus for retrieval to augment the text output generated by an LLM. This is just the beginning. One of the ways that we can extend RAG, and extend AI, is through multilingual use cases. Typical RAG is done in English using embedding models that are trained in English. In this talk, we’ll explore how RAG could work in languages other than English. We’ll explore French, Chinese, and Polish.

Explore how multimodal embeddings work with Milvus. We will see how you can explore a popular multimodal model - CLIP - on a popular dataset - CIFAR 10. You use CLIP to create the embeddings of the input data, Milvus to store the embeddings of the multimodal data (sometimes termed “multimodal embeddings”), and we will then explore the embeddings.

Following the popularity of “Cloud Revolution: Exploring the New Wave of Serverless Spatial Data,” we’re thrilled to announce this much-anticipated encore webinar. In this sequel, we’ll dive deeper into the Cloud-Native realm by uncovering practical applications and FME support for these new formats, including COGs, COPC, FlatGeoBuf, GeoParquet, STAC, and ZARR. Building on the foundation laid by industry leaders Michelle Roby of Radiant Earth and Chris Holmes of Planet in the first webinar, this second part offers an in-depth look at the real-world application and behind-the-scenes dynamics of these cutting-edge formats. We will spotlight specific use-cases and workflows, showcasing their efficiency and relevance in practical scenarios. Discover the vast possibilities each format holds, highlighted through detailed discussions and demonstrations. Our expert speakers will dissect the key aspects and provide critical takeaways for effective use, ensuring attendees leave with a thorough understanding of how to apply these formats in their own projects. Elevate your understanding of how FME supports these cutting-edge technologies, enhancing your ability to manage, share, and analyze spatial data. Whether you’re building on knowledge from our initial session or are new to the serverless spatial data landscape, this webinar is your gateway to mastering cloud-native formats in your workflows.
