2. What is Make A Wish?
• Make A Wish is a charity that was founded in 1986, the main
aim of the charity was to grant wishes to children with life
threatening conditions.
• Since being established Make A Wish has granted over 8,000
wishes in the UK.
• Make A Wish is now the largest wish granting organisation in
the world, they help to serve children in nearly 50 countries
around the world.
3. Animation Idea/Concept
• The idea for our Animation is that we want people to know
what the children’s dreams are about and how they have an
opportunity for their wish to come true.
• The concept is that we want the animation to be in the stars
so it is all about the dreams that the children want and how
the logo will grant and represent the wish.
• The idea is that we want to show how different children can
look with there conditions, the dreams of what they would
like to appear above their heads and you would see them
above their heads the dreams would float into the sky and you
would then see them change into a star that would shoot into
the sky to form the logo to show that the charity is all about
making that child’s wish come true.
4. Character Sketches
• Here are our
character sketches.
We are currently still
developing them but
that is what we have
come up with so far.
5. Set Design
• Our set is a basic
plain background
so that you can
concentrate on
the characters as
they are the most
important part of
this Animation
7. Animation Techniques
• We are going to use drawn animation because we feel that we
will be able to get the best possible result for the animation
that we are creating.
• By using drawn animation we will have more freedom to do
more and if we were to make a mistake when filming it would
be easy to correct without damaging the animations look.
8. Target Audience
• With Make A Wish the target audience is any age that is
willing to donate.
• The children eligible for a wish is aged from 3-17, therefore
the advert needs to show how much the wish means to the
children to for their wish to be granted.
• The majority of people who will probably donate will be over
18 or someone who has been affected by this and wants
people to have the same opportunity that other people have.
• Another person to target for this animation would be parents
as they know how it feels to have a child and how they
wouldn’t want certain things to happen to their children.
9. Cinematography
• We will use a variety of shots in our animation. As Make-A-
Wish foundation is a charity that needs a lot of thought, we
will need to add a selection of shots so that you can show the
emotion and feel more connected to the advert.
• We also want to make sure that the animation has a happy yet
dreamy side to it which is another purpose of the charity. To
achieve this we will focus on the smiles and the happiness of
their wishes.
• We will use a variety of shot types, these will be; long shots
and close ups. These are the most effective for our
documentary as we can show the most emotion as possible of
our characters.
10. Cinematography Continued..
• Long Shot – to show the area of the animation so that the
audience can have a larger idea on how the animation looks
and feels.
• Close Up – This is to show the audience the emotion on the
faces of the characters in the animation weather it was to be
smiles or other emotions.
• Zoom – We will zoom into the clouds of the animation that
would then float up into the sky where we would slowly zoom
back out to a long shot.
11. Mise-en-Scene
• Setting – With the setting of the animation it is set in the
clouds in a white room with a door. The door is the door that
takes them to their dreams. The setting needs to be light and
fluffy. This would draw the audience in as it would entise them
to carry on watching to find out what is behind that door and
what the door brings to the children.
• Props – The props we will use are going to be a wheelchair
and a UV drip. This is to show that they are not the healthiest
of children. The theme of the animation is illness so having the
children with the most common hospital equipment its not
too harsh for the television but it still makes the audience
want to carry on watching as it is the curiosity of how the
advert will end and how they would be able to help.
12. Mise-en-Scene Continued…
• Lighting – The lighting in our animation is going to be bright
because it shows that there is a light at the end of everything.
At the end of the animation the lighting will transition into the
dark nights sky to show the logo. The lighting is a very
interesting part for the children as in a hospital there is often
very bright lighting so from the lighting going from bright to a
dark colour, the colour wont represent anything bad but it
would show that for not all of the children the future is only
bright for a limited amount of time.
• Costume – With our animation we are drawing outlined
outfits and they will be suitable for their age. Costume is a
very interesting part of the animation as it sets a tone for the
children as they want to fit in with the children of their age
but their illnesses can effect that.
13. Feedback
• I like the idea and the type of technique
• Make sure sufficient emotion can be felt for the sick children
• Intersperse it with real children? To make it real to people
• Target audience will also include anyone who is a parent
• This technique will take a lot of patience to ensure
professional standards are met.
