This document outlines 5 ideas for magazine advertisements promoting Irn-Bru. The first idea is an eye-catching ad featuring an Irn-Bru can with branding information. The second is a point-of-sale display stand with a mix of images and bold text. The third is an attention-grabbing website banner ad with more text than images. The fourth is a poster for a new Irn-Bru product with an original image and tagline. The fifth suggests partnering with another product for a competition. It also presents 3 ideas for new Irn-Bru product designs.
2. ADVERT IDEA 1
For a magazine advertisement the design should be
eye-catching so that it will be noticed among the large
number of other product adverts that will be featured
within the magazine.
The colours that will be used will be the same as the
house style of the usual Irn-Bru products, however the
tone and general design of the advert will be
sophisticated in a humorous way – almost making fun of
other sophisticated adverts and keeping the humorous
style of Irn-Bru.
There will be one main image of a can of Irn-Bru in the
centre of the advert with a large tag line and there will
be information for the website address/twitter/facebook
included in the footer of the advertisement.
3. ADVERT IDEA 2
Secondly I have an idea for a point of sale display
stand for the Irn-Bru packaging which has been
asked for within the brief.
This will be made of cardboard and will have a mix
of images and text on all sides of the unit with the
ratio being image heavy. However the text which
will be used will be in a font which is bold and easily
legible.
The colour scheme that will be used will be the
traditional Irn-Bru colours, however will also have a
slight addition or alteration in order to make the
product look slightly fresh and new without losing
the products already well known reputation.
4. ADVERT IDEA 3
For an Irn-Bru website banner the colours I will use
will be very bold and very eye-catching as this will
be the first piece of advertising that the audience
will see once they have clicked onto the website.
There will be slightly more text to image proportions
because a website header is quite small and a
good amount of information must be put across in
one image.
I may decide to take my own photographs for this
advertising material – for example I could take a
photograph of someone drinking a can of Irn-Bru
and have a clear tag line to positively anchor the
image.
5. ADVERT IDEA 4
I could create a poster advertising the new Irn-Bru
32, and design it in a similar way following the house
style in order for the audience to be able to identify the
drink.
The poster will have an image that I have taken myself
of the drink, or could simply just have a new logo for the
product which I could create myself within Photoshop.
The poster could be advertising the new drink by
introducing the brand new logo/design.
There will be a large, memorable, humorous tag line
attached to the poster
The correct addresses for the facebook/twitter/web page
will be available on the poster
6. ADVERT IDEA 5
A good form of advertising is being able to partner up
with or sponsor another product or business.
I could organize a competition involving Irn-Bru 32 and
another product which will be attractive to the same
target audience in order to attract a larger audience and
another group of potential customers who will be
attracted to the product which is the ‘prize’
The prize product should be something that Irn-Bru’s
audience will specifically be interested in, this is why it
will be very important that I know exactly who the target
audience is that I will be attracting.
The colours will be in the usual Irn-Bru style of
orange/blue/silver/white.
7. PRODUCT IDEA 1
I could produce a can of Irn-Bru
The colours could be darker than usual, giving the
product a more sophisticated look, which would
appeal to a wider audience.
I could used Black as the main base colour, ad
incorporate Irn-Bru’s signature colours; orange and
blue.
I could produce a brand new logo which would be
similar to the previous one in order to ensure that
the product will be identified by their target
audience.
The fonts will still be simple, bold and easy to read.
8. PRODUCT IDEA 2
I could decide to create a can of Irn-Bru with the
main theme being very modern
The colours could be mainly whites and
silvers, giving the product a more modern and
futuristic feel.
The fonts would be bold and very square – in
keeping with the futuristic theme.
The logo would be similar to the silver man current
Irn-Bru logo however could be in a different colour
like orange or blue (to ensure that the bottle is still
recognisable)
9. PRODUCT IDEA 3
I could produce plastic bottle.
The bottle would be see-through with a plastic
wrapper around the outside where there would be
the printed information.
The colours would be bright and bold, in keeping
with the previous house style of Irn-Bru, I could
decide to add other colours to the packaging such
as yellows and reds to make the product more bold
and eye-catching.
