2. Production of the magazine advert
The first stage was to cut
out the picture using the
‘magnetic lasso tool’. I
then turned the picture into
greyscale.
This is done to ensure the
picture can be placed on
different layers for
example without the
background of the picture
showing.
3. Production of the magazine advert
The second stage of the
process was to get the right
size for the magazine
advert and chose the
colour.
4. Production of the magazine advert
The next stage was to
download a brush pallet
and use one of the brush
to make a torn/ripped
effect.
5. Production of the magazine advert
Once I used the brush
to make a torn/ripped
effect, I then had to add
another layer. On here,
again using the brush tool
I made less tear’s and
used the effect of a
drop shadow to show
the effect more.
6. Production of the magazine advert
Here is the picture I cut
out previously. As it was
on another file, I simply
dragged it over and
resized and positioned it.
7. Production of the magazine advert
In this stage I added some
writing at the bottom
‘Scan for additional
purchase’ I also added
a QR code at the end of it.
Underneath this writing I
added logos of well-
known stores where the
music can be purchased.
8. Production of the magazine advert
Here I decided to use the
font ‘Monotype Corsiva’
for the artists name ‘Amy
Piner’. This font stands out
and its clear to read.
9. Production of the magazine advert
For the artists name, I put
a drop shadow effect. This
is because the name is
able to stand out more.
10. Production of the magazine advert
Here I decided to use the
font ‘Trash’ which I had to
search for and download.
I decided to use this font
for the album name
‘TORN’ because its clear
to read and represent the
album name and it has a
torn effect on the edging
similar to the effect
created by the brushes for
the background.
11. Production of the magazine advert
‘OUT NOW’ was also
written in the ‘Trash’ font.
I did this because I tried it
with the ‘Monotype
Corsiva’ font, however,
because the writing is still
big unlike ‘Scan here for
additional purchase’
(Monotype Corsiva font) it
took the effect away from
the artists name.
12. Production of the magazine advert
For the wording ‘TORN’
and ‘OUT NOW’ I used
and inner and outer
shadow effect which the
words to look imprinted.
13. Production of the magazine advert
Once I had made the CD
cover I simply dragged it
across onto the magazine
advert and placed it
above the wording ‘OUT
NOW’ so it is clear its the
CD I'm talking about.
14. Production of the magazine advert
In order for it to be extra
clear to anyone viewing
the magazine advert that
there’s a CD placed there,
I placed a red outer glow
around the CD cover to
make it stand out.
16. After the production process – Final
magazine advert
After the production process
and showing my teacher, he
told me to correct the wording
– changing the word purchase
to content.
He also advised me to
move the picture up
slightly and make the
wording ‘OUT NOW’
slightly smaller as before it
was covered my the tear.
