Crossroads Charter Academy Big Rapids, MI March 25, 2013 Mrs. Nawrot’s Classroom News Class News ThisSpelling Week’s Academics  Guest Reader- Last week we were fortunateThis week we will not have a regular spelling unit.We will be taking a midyear test to enough to have a guest reader. We had a Ferris football player who came and read aReading great book about trying hard and doing yourI hope students will strive to have good reading habitsas we begin our last marking period. It is my hope best.that they will be ready for a summer full of reading!  Science Fair – Last Thursday was our annualWriting Science Fair. The students did a great job onWe will finish our letters to our favorite authors on their projects, and I was so impressed withWednesday. Last year we had several authors write their creativity in their displays!back, so we will see what happens this year! I am 1st place – Nicholas Brummelersending home our letters to family members. I hope 2nd place – Gavin Hughesyou have a stamp available to mail out the letter andhopefully your child can get a response back. 3rd place – Shawn GerstMath  Battle of the Books- Thursday will be ourWow, Division has been going so well! We have Battle of the Books competition. Studentscovered basic division, as well as the 4 steps that are will be competing from 9:30-11:30, with aused to perform long division. Students have even grand battle at 1pm.learned about remainders. We will be having a test on  Marking Period Extended- The 3rd markingWednesday in every Math classroom. Ask your childabout divisor, dividend, and quotient! period will now end on Thursday. It wasCreative Writing extended due to all the time we had off.Students will be ending their creative writing class on  Board Game Day- We will be playing boardWednesday. They will begin Social Studies class on games after Battle of the Books on Thursday.April 8th after spring break. Students can bring in board games to play from 1:30 until the end of the day.
