 OCS Deployments

Executive Summary
Enterprises that are adopting unified communications (UC) platforms such as Microsoft Office Communication Server (OCS) must carefully
consider and plan how UC will affect their LAN and WAN infrastructures, as well as how their networks may either hinder or improve the
performance of a UC solution. Everything from bandwidth considerations, to firewall topology, to end-user habits and experiences must be
taken into consideration. If done correctly, enterprises can realize great productivity gains with new levels of collaboration, both internally and
with external parties. Reduction of WAN and LAN infrastructure, built to maximum capacity in support of past IP telephony or voice/data
convergence efforts, can also reduce costs and lessen management complexity in the long run.
