Rolls-Royce Controls and Data Services designs electronic engine controllers and other systems for aerospace gas turbines. They developed the VISIUM GR processor starting in 1997 using ASIC technology, and added Ada support in 2002. In 2005 they introduced the VISIUM GR5 using a multi-chip module design for improved robustness and obsolescence management. They are now developing the VISIUM GR6 to replace the GR5 due to many component obsolescences and to increase computing performance. Rolls-Royce partnered with AdaCore for support of the GNAT compiler targeting their GR5 and new GR6 processors.
