• By contrasting knowledge, one gains greater
insight into other people’s needs.
It is not always about you.
DiSC helps you better navigate between
choices, decisions and consequences. You
become more aware of the consequences of
your interactions.
Nothing is ever “perfect” all the time.
The first time I took DiSC my “S” seemed off.
I’m known for being steady and resilient. Being
curious, I asked the assessor, who probed for more
situational details. I was in active grief, I was
planning to sell my house and to move, plus I was
undertaking a challenging new work role. To those
of you in major transition, please consider such
factors if you feel something is amiss.
What if my DiSC seems off?
It bothered me that my “C” score is low.
My assessor said this is what it meant:
“I just pity the person who who ever expects
you to do something you did not explicitly
agreed to do. Your type is sensitive to rules or
processes set by others – especially those
which you did not buy into on the front end.”
Here’s what I believe helps. More knowledge. If you are concerned
about an aspect of your DiSC style, consult a pro and research.
The devil is in the details!
• DiSC application fosters creative and productive group
interactions. It’s used to develop winning combinations.
• Highly prized in sales. Increased understanding leads to
adapting to different customer profiles and buying styles.

Bonus question. Who is
Dr. William Moulton Marston?
William Moulton Marston (1893–1947) was also known
by the pen name, Charles Moulton. He was an American
psychologist, attorney, inventor and comic book writer.
Marston zeroed in on the application of DiSC. He discerned
that people have a tendency to behave along two axes, with
their attention being either passive or active; depending on
the individual's perception of his or her environment as
either favorable or antagonistic.
Marston created the
character Wonder Woman!

• My professional credentials, as well as our
organization’s funding, licenses, and the livelihood
of our employees are on the line.
• Do they realize that if I miss a trend, do not identify
fraud, then we cannot pass the yearly audit? I’m a
dead duck. I’m a C.P.A.
• I do realize that the visionaries, fundraisers,
volunteers and coaches are energetic people who
bring in the money, but I have priorities too. I must
account for everything. I need a schedule, a paper
trail and proper documentation. They are just too
busy raising money, inspiring people, and
expounding on their latest and greatest ideas to give
me what is needed to comply. Will they ever get it or
ever turn in their receipts on time?

Danita’s story…
• At times, Danita, drives me to the brink with her
pickiness. Why? Because my style is big picture
master strokes – and she is caught up in the weeds-
detail oriented. She’s a C.P. A. with high “C and S”
tendencies. This person needs consistency,
predictability and accuracy. She sends me detailed
forms, endless requests and her reporting schedule.
• We are polar opposites. I realize this now. “I” gotta
give. I truly like my work and my donors and my
teammates. I decide to try to comply more often –
and only push her so far! A little give and take
satisfies my profile style. I now take time to be more
responsive and attentive to those pesky reporting
details.

  • 15. Nothing is ever “perfect” all the time. The first time I took DiSC my “S” seemed off. I’m known for being steady and resilient. Being curious, I asked the assessor, who probed for more situational details. I was in active grief, I was planning to sell my house and to move, plus I was undertaking a challenging new work role. To those of you in major transition, please consider such factors if you feel something is amiss. What if my DiSC seems off?
  • 16. It bothered me that my “C” score is low. My assessor said this is what it meant: “I just pity the person who who ever expects you to do something you did not explicitly agreed to do. Your type is sensitive to rules or processes set by others – especially those which you did not buy into on the front end.” Here’s what I believe helps. More knowledge. If you are concerned about an aspect of your DiSC style, consult a pro and research. The devil is in the details!
