Results
These new aspects of 2.0 were most helpful for optimizing our platform.
Assets
The new platform allows for content such as links, photos, documents, and databases
to be accessible in a central location reuse and editing.

Implementing 2.0
Collaborating with the Library Director, we decided to substitute a guide to serve as a
homepage and portal to library resources.
Parts of the Homepage
The default landing page was a list of guides sorted by the guide metadata with an
option to use a redirect URL. We substituted a guide to serve as the homepage.
We included:
Basic information: hours, staff contact information, & social media icons
Vendor widgets: LibraryH3lp chat & LibraryThing for new books
Featured Guides List
The 1.0 homepage offered a featured guides list that our users valued, so we created a
comparable resource. We used a rich text/HTML box to create list of curated guides.
For a quick and easy portal to other guides, we used the built-in widget maker to
create a drop-down menu which include additional subject, course, and event guides.
Tabbed Widget Box
A highlight of the homepage is a tabbed box that hosts widgets to several important
resources.
Find Books: search box for GILFind@EGSC & link for GILFind UC for GILExpress
Find Articles: GALILEO Discover search box
Films on Demand: search box for the video database
My Library Account: view, request, or renew books
Conclusion
The new homepage has become an essential
tool for our patrons to access library
resources. We have seen an increase in usage
of LibGuides and services since our migration.
We believe that migrating has afforded us new
opportunities to create interesting and
applicable content, and an enhanced web
presence for our users which has positively
affected our statistics.
Introduction
Since migrating to LibGuides 2.0, we have
implemented several of the new built-in tools
and restructured our guides to include new
interactive ways of delivering content and
providing points of access to relevant and useful
library resources.
Due to greater customizations, guide
revisions, and the resulting homepage
upgrade, the migration has contributed
to a boost in usage for our research
guides.
