2. Environmental protection is a
practice of protecting the natural
environment on individual,
organizational or governmental levels,
for the benefit of both the natural
environment and humans.
3. Have contributed to
severe environmental
degradation, and
spread of pollution
which poses threats
to humans and
natural habitats
Uncontrolled economic
& socio-cultural activities
and unsustainable
exploitation and usage of
natural resources
Scientific and
technological development
13. Because, in our country, we often
donโt realize that there are many
LOCAL WISDOMS that can teach
us how to keep our environment
safe
14. One of them, we can learn local
wisdom from Baduy tribe in Lebak
Banten
They have their strong norm (pikukuh) that say :
Mounts canโt be
destroyed, valley
cannot be damage,
message from
elderly cannot be
changed, the length
cannot be cut, short
cannot be joined
15. โข And those rules are obeyed by the people
โข They have rules, can not cut down trees,
keep water source, the rules of hunting
animals
โข So that the balance of nature, clean water
and ecosystem are still well maintained
16. Besides that, we can learn from
indigenous knowledge from the people in
Kampung Naga in Tasikmalaya
โข They have a value that humanโs life
has a bonding with the nature as the
source of their life
โข They really keep their environment
clean
โข They catch fish naturally without
using chemical
โข They obey the rules of cutting down
trees in forest
17. And many more, LOCAL WISDOM that
can teach us how to keep our
environment safe
Are we inspired by them?
What can we do?
We can start
with small things!
18. We have a short video about how we can
participate to keep our environment safe
19. I want to repeat the message that I quote
from Pikukuh baduy tribe :
Gunung teu meunang dilebur, Lebak teu meunang
diruksak, Larangan teu meunang dirempak, Buyut
teu meunang dirobah, Lojor teu meunang dipotong,
Pondok teu meunang disambungโ
