Caused by Bortdella
Pertussis or Bordetalla
paratussis bacteria

3. Trnsmitted....?
By direct contact with
fluids from the nose or
mouth that contains mucus
Very Communicable

4. Etiology
Symptoms appear 6-21
days after exposure
Gagging or vomiting is
also a sign or sypmtoms
Can be detected by a
throat culture and tests,
blood tests, chest x-ray.

5. Prognosis
Vaccine called Tdap
Children, teens
& adults: can
take antibotics such as
Zithromax, E-ymicn,
Eryped, OTC cough
medcines
Infants: Take
Sedatives like
Brazepam or Ativan
This disease is very
terminal for babies

6. Pathophysiology
This disease is very chronic
You can get it over and over again
You look the the same you just feel very different
