3. My 1st day at
Delta.
Upon signing up for the Delta Middle School “LIFT”
program, I was told the first day would be an
orientation day, where I would be told the rules and
expectations of the program. I’ll admit I was nervous
in expectation for the program and my role in it and
whether I’d be able to “hack-it’ for lack of a better
phrase.
It would be my first time tutoring, and to compound
matters and add to my already nagging self-doubt, I
would be tutoring sixth, seventh, and eight graders
who were having trouble with math. Numbers haunt
my nightmares, and math has always been my worst
subject. So would I be able to help these kids? Would
I be of any service? Or would I be just as stumped as
they?
