GAME RESEARCH
INTRODUCTION 
• We will be talking about our new video game “Dungeon 
Divers” 
• We will be showing you our collected research of both 
primary and secondary which we collected via he 
internet and the general public.
PRIMARY RESEARCH 
• For our primary research we created a questionnaire on survey 
monkey, this questionnaire was made up of a verity of closed 
questions which will help us understand what type of game 
dungeon divers must be to be successful

PRIMARY RESEARCH 
Q1: which genre is most popular? 
With these results we now know that the most popular game 
genres are RPG and MMO and the least popular are fantasy 
and platformers.

Which game platform is most popular? 
With this bar chart we found that the most people prefer playing games on either PC 
or xbox360 and that most people don’t typically play on the wii or portable consoles.

How much do people spend on games per month? 
This graph shows us that the public doesn’t usually spend over £10, this can 
help us sell more games by making the game cheap and under £10.

How many hours a day do people play computer games? 
This graph shows us that most gamers spend 7+ hours on games, this means that most of 
the game play must be time consuming

Which PEGI rating is most popular? 
People prefer the higher ratings of 18 and 16.
PRIMARY RESEARCH 
Do people prefer to play together or alone? 
Our survey show that people like all things almost equally.
PRIMARY RESEARCH 
Do people prefer fast paced or in depth story gameplay? 
Through this graph we now know that the public enjoys games with deeper story lines 
as opposed to fast paced game play that lacks story.
SECONDARY RESEARCH 
• In our secondary research we aimed to find what the most 
popular genre and the most popular games of that genre were 
and why the public enjoy this game over others.
SECONDARY RESEARCH 
Strategy games are most popular. 
With these result we found that the genre with the highest sales are strategy and casual 
games, were as flight, racing, sport and arcade games were the least sold with all ranking 
below 1% on the chart.
SECONDARY RESEARCH 
Most popular strategy games. 
The 5 most popular strategy games are StarCraft II: Wings of liberty, followed by XCOM: 
enemy within, Card Hunter, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm and XCOM: Enemy Unknown
SECONDARY RESEARCH 
• PEGI Rating 
• The Pan-European Game Information (PEGI) age rating system was 
established to help European parents make informed decisions on buying 
computer games. It was launched in spring 2003 and replaced a number of 
national age rating systems with a single system now used throughout most 
of Europe, in 30 countries.
SUMMARY 
• Through both secondary and primary research we found that to make our game better we will 
incorporate a multiplayer and make sure that we have a strong and in depth storyline to make 
an equal balance between the two to try and make it into a enjoyable MMORPG. 
• we will also make sure that the gameplay will last longer hen 7 hours to make the gameplay 
long for gamers who play up to that time scale. 
• we will also make sure that the game is designed for both PC, XBOX360 and possibly design a 
portable version for the phones. 
• We now know that to increase sales we must make the game cheap and affordable with the 
sale price of £10; this will help in selling the game to younger gamers with less money to spend. 
• we also now know what type of content the game should have due to the preferred PEGI 18 we 
can now turn the game more violent bringing in a larger audience. 
• the last thing we found was that the public favorite for game genres were strategy games 
making us change the game from a medieval slash-em game to more of a strategic dungeon 
game where the player must think about his/her actions and how they might affect the 
protagonist.
