Introduction
Information system
I.S is a combination of hardware, software and telecom
network, hat people can build create collect and distribute
useful data typically in any organization.
 Features of I.S
 Data
• Data is information stored in its raw form.
 People
• Technical people are required to design database and
programming.
 Hardware
• Web servers, routers, switches, LAN, firewall etc.
 Software
• DBMS, applications, programming languages etc.
 Telecommunication
• As networking technologies.
How Information System is implemented into any Organization?3
Organization
An organized group of people with a particular purpose such as
a business or government department. The actions of an
organizing something are planning, arrangement, coordination,
structuring, administration, organizing, running, management
and logistics.
Following are the level of organization.
How Information System is implemented into any Organization?4
Decision-Making Levels of an
Organization
 Executive level (top)
• Long-term decisions
• Unstructured decisions
 Managerial level (middle)
• Decisions covering weeks and months
• Semi-structured decisions
 Operational level (bottom)
• Day-to-day decisions
• Structured decisions
How Information System is implemented into any Organization?5
Implementation of I.S in any
Organization
 Implementation of I.S is depending upon the type of
organization.
 There may be more than one I.S in a single organization.
 Implementation is the stage in the project where the
theoretical design is turned into a working system. The
implementation phase constructs, installs and operates
the new system. The most crucial stage in achieving a
new successful system is that it will work efficiently and
effectively.
How Information System is implemented into any Organization?6
Requirements
(Basic key points for implementation of I.S)
 Deciding on what to develop
 IS evaluation and migration
 Managing user resistance
 Managing change
 IS maintenance
System Development Life Cycle
It is a process of creating or altering information systems,
models and methodologies. It has 4 fundamental phases:
Planning / Analysis / Design / Implementation.
Planning
It is the fundamental process of understanding why an information
system should be built and determining how the project team will
go about building it.
How Information System is implemented into any Organization?7
Example that will explore this
concept
 Analysis
• Who will use the system? What the
system will do?
 Design
• How the system will operate?
 Implementation
• The system will be actually built.
Organization University
Types of information systems which can be implement in a University are:
1. Office Information Systems
2. Transaction Processing Systems
3. Learning Management Systems
4. Management Information Systems
5. Decision Support Systems
How Information System is implemented into any Organization?8
Basic systems model for all Info.
Systems
6. Expert Systems
7. Library Management System
8. Integrated Information Systems
These are major types of information systems that are generally used in any
organization.

Library Management System
In University working of an I.S is shown by the block
diagram it is related with many other systems. Here we will
discuss Library information system of a University.
How Information System is implemented into any Organization?10
Introduction
The project titled “Smart Library 1.0” is Library
management software for monitoring and controlling the
transactions in a library. This project is designed & coded
in Net beans 7.3.1 & database management is handled.
This software mainly focuses on basic operations in a
library like adding new member, new books, and updating
new information, searching books and members and
facility to borrow and return books. “Smart Library 1.0” is
a java application written on 32-bit, Windows XP
operating system, designed to help users maintain and
organize library.
Proposed/Flexibility System
Proposed system is an automated Library Management
System. Through our software user can add members,
add books, search members, search books, update
information, edit information, borrow and return books in
quick time. Our proposed system has the following
advantages.
How Information System is implemented into any Organization?11
 User friendly interface
 Fast access to database
 Less error
 More Storage Capacity
 Search facility
 Look and Feel Environment
 Quick transaction
All the manual difficulties in managing the Library have been rectified by
implementing computerization.
People Role
 Programmers:
• Who develop software/program.
 System analysis:
• Translate business problems into I.T solutions.
 I.S managers:
• Department leaders.
 Users:
• Customers for whom software is developed.
How Information System is implemented into any Organization?12
Minimum Hardware Requirements
 Processor : Pentium IV or better
 RAM : 128 MB or more
 Hard Disk : 20GB
 Monitor : Any
 Key Board : 122 Keys
Minimum software requirements
Operating System: Windows 98, Windows
XP, Windows 7 or better.
Language: Java 7 Runtime Environment or better.
Software Interface
1. Splash Screen 1.0 (software name)

Conclusion
This is good effort to develop a simple
Library Management System which may be
useful in a Library to insert, store, handle
and retrieve information about books,
magazines, cd/dvd, newspapers etc. I hope
it will be commonly use in every
university/organization.
