Cameroon gained independence from France in 1960. It is located in Central Africa and borders Nigeria, Chad, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon. The population is around 19 million people and French and English are the main languages. The capital is Yaoundé and the largest city is Douala, which handles most of Cameroon's exports like oil, cocoa, and coffee. Cameroon has been ruled by President Paul Biya since 1982 and its flag features vertical green, red, and yellow stripes with a central star symbolizing unity.
