2. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you
have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Preliminary Front Cover
Title- I like the design of the title but
doesn’t fit in with the codes and
conventions as it doesn’t stretch
over the top of the page and isn’t
centred.
Text-
The text is hard to read due to the font I picked
and the colour doesn’t standout out enough
against the background.
Image-
This image doesn’t look very

This cover doesn't inform its reader

4. Preliminary Task
Before starting my preliminary task I had never tried to create a magazine, this
task allowed me to try new things on software I wasn't comfortable on and
experiment with different tools and techniques, including
gradients, feathering, effects and rotating and lots of others. After completing
this task I had a better idea of what was achievable on this software and how to
do it.
Although the turn out wasn't as aesthetically pleasing as a magazine normally is
it gave me the confidence to try and create a music magazine for my main task
as I had a good idea of what looks right in the form of layout, colours, layers and
images.
5. What I Have Learnt From My Preliminary Task
Successful thing I used in Main Task;
• Strong Colour Scheme
• Use Columns to Separate Text
• Eye Catching Designs
• Use Boxes and Banners for Important Information
Things I need to Improve for Main Task;
• Quality of Images
• Use of Technology and Programs
• Layout and spacing
• Made all areas have Importance and No Blank Spaces
• Layers

8. Overall Improvements
Overall I think my understanding and techniques of how to create a successful and
interesting looking magazine has hugely improved. During this project I have been able to
use codes and conventions for my magazine but challenge them and develop them into

am very pleased with the outcome of my final magazine I think it looks and functions
suitable and in the way a magazine needs to be.
