1. What is interactive media?
• Interactive media is normally products and services on digital computer-
based systems, technology which responds to the user’s actions by
presenting content such as text, Animations, video, audio, Graphics and
Games; Game websites such as Miniclip and other social networking sites.

2. Size, Shape and structure
• The interactive media industry is worth several billion pounds yearly and
it employs around 43,000 people, indicating approximately 22% of the
total Creative Media Industries. Interactive media is not so much a sector
as a discipline, as its creation and use is increasingly becoming part of
everyday activity across all sectors of industry in general.
3. Twitter
• Twitter is an online social networking websites. Users can access Twitter through
the website interface, SMS, or mobile device app. Twitter Inc is based in San
Francisco and has offices in Boston, San Antonio and New York city. Twitter was
created in March 2006 by a man named Jack Dorsey and by July 2006, the site was
launched. The service rapidly gained worldwide popularity, with 500 million
registered users in 2012, who posted 340 million tweets per day. The service also
handled 1.6 billion search queries per day. Twitter is now one of the ten most
visited websites along with Facebook and YouTube ETC. It has also been described
as “the SMS of the Internet”. It’s subsidiaries with Vine; Vine is a mobile app
owned by Twitter that enables users to create and post short video clips.
4. Facebook
• Facebook is another social networking website, user can access this
website from IOS, Smartphone or from a PC. They have a current revenue
of $5billion (2012) and 5,299 (June 2013), they have over a billion users.
They’re subsidiary with Instagram. Mark Zuckerberg is the creator and
current owner.
5. Miniclip
• Miniclip – An online gaming website that was launched in 2001, it has a large varied assembly
of games. It is actually the worlds largest privately owned website. The website was started
by Robert small (CEO) and Tihan Presbie (Presidents), they had a budget of 40,000 and the
website grew astoundingly fast. In 2008 The company valued at a whopping 200 million,
having being profitable for six years with turnovers exceeding at 20 million in the past 2
years. There are also applications you can get on any smart phone or IOS. Also you can get it
on Android.
6. How is twitter used by other media industries?
• Twitter is used in television all the time, it the best place to get information from when you need it.
Every, if not most celebrities have a twitter account and they can interact with their Fans/Followers.
Musicians/Bands use twitter to tell them about new songs coming out, or when a new album is out or
even telling the fans that they at the studio recording. ETC. Not only is twitter used for that but
companies like to advertise and promote their products.
7. How does the interactive media industry relate to other industries?
• The interactive media industry relates to the Gaming industry, because they use social networking sites
to advertise games, for example if you like a video game page on Facebook, they will give you the latest
updated information on the game.
