![Ms. Popwell's 1st GradeWhat's up the weather? Since our weather here in central Alabama in constantly changing, our class is going to begin a project on weather patterns next week! Exploring Weather Patterns is going to be an exciting adventure for your child as they discover new things about the weather. After this unit, they will be about to recognize daily changes in the weather, locate days on the calendar as far as a month in advance, and identify uses of technology in daily living. We're going to explore the many different types of weather, the causes and tools that help meteorologists predict the weather. Each student will keep a weather journal to record the daily temperature and weather type for two weeks. After that two week period, students will spend a week analyzing their data with a group in order to come up with own weather predictions! So ‘weather’ or not your ready, here we go! PBL: What is it? Project-Based Learning (PBL) involves a more hands on approach in the classroom by allowing your students to develop new skills such as collaboration while I act more like a facilitator while leading projects. During this unit, students will lead discussions on what the weather looks like and make their own predictions.
