    • 2. BAU-BAU- BIOFUNGICIDE ?BIOFUNGICIDE ? Formulated from naturally occurring fungus, Trichoderma by growing on an organic substrate (Agro-wastes) . It protects crops from different diseases (root rot, foot rot, wilt etc.) caused by different harmful fungi (Fusarium, Sclerotium, Rhizotonia, Pythium, Phytophthora, Macrophomina, etc.). BAU-Biofungicide protects crop from both seed borne and soil borne diseases
    • 3. Who discovered?Who discovered? Professor Dr. Ismail Hossain, Department of Plant Pathology, Bangladesh Agricultural University, formulated BAU- Biofungicide
    • 4. TRICHODERMATRICHODERMA • a genus of fungi that is present in all soils, where they are the most prevalent culturable fungi. •There are 89 species in the Trichoderma genus. •Several strains of Trichoderma have been developed as biocontrol agents against fungal diseases of plants.   •Most biocontrol agents are from the species T. harzianum, T. viride and T. hamatum. The biocontrol agent generally grows in its natural habitat on the root surface, and so affects root disease in particular, but can also be effective against foliar diseases.
    • 5. 1. Mycoparasitism 2. Antibiosis 3. Competition for nutrients or space 4. Tolerance to stress through enhanced root and plant development 5. Solubilization and sequestration of inorganic nutrients 6. Induced resistance 7. Inactivation of the pathogen’s enzymes

Benefits of using BAU- Biofungicide BAU-Biofungicide has its strong potentiality as a seed treating bioagent.  Protects the seed from soil borne pathogens.  can be used for protecting crop plants from the attack of nematode.  BAU-Biofungicide works as an activator. BAU- Biofungicide increases the plant growth, plant stand and ultimately increases the yield of the crops.  There is no health risk of using BAU- Biofungicide. The product can be manufactured easily using locally available machinery and raw materials.  The product can be stored for 6 months at room temperature even in farmer’s house.
    • 7. It is easy to handle, packaging, distribution and marketing.  The product is environmental friendly and improves soil quality for the betterment of crop growth. Its cost of production is extra-ordinarily low.
    • 8. Seed treatment with BAU- Biofungicide Seeds of different vegetables can effectively be treated with BAU-Biofungicide. Vegetables are: 1. Sweet gourd 2. Snake gourd 3. Bitter gourd 4. Bottle gourd 5. Ridge gourd 6. Tomato 7. Brinjal 8. Cabbage 9. Cauliflower 10. Kalmi shak 11. Amaranth 12. Raddish 13. Okra 14. Yard long bean 15. Indian spinach and 16. Spinach. Besides, treatment of potato seed tubers resulting higher yield of potato.

    • 12. Effect of BAU-Biofungicide on Nematode:  It protect crop plant from the attack of nematode, especially from root knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) in different crop species viz. Tomato, brinjal, okra, amaranath, pulses, chilli, bean, carrot, groundnut , soybean and cucurbits.  It significantly increase shoot length and root length.  Increase seedling vigour.  As a result significantly decrease the number of egg masses, juveniles and galls.
