1. Analysis of the first 2 minutes of taken
The film starts off with the standard 21st century fox logo. This shows that this film is not yet a block
buster because if you take for example the last Simpsons it got it very own redesigned 21st century
fox logo. So this shows to me that this, movie is new on the market and is not yet famous and
probably the first movie of its type.
The first part of the movie is of a party hat in a cone shape the colours are off just as if it is a family
film, this shows to me that we are looking into the past this let the audience know that we are in the
past at this point. This also leads me to believe that the movie is all going to be about an event that
happened in the past
The music in the background at the start of the first minute of this film is non diegetic and is quite
and eerie this leads me to believe again that we are in the past and there is not something right
about this part of film which we are later going to find out about later on in the move but what it is
we don’t know you as they audience. But we are hooked because there is a mystery about it.
The movie the film then cuts to a man sitting in the dark holding a tablet, he then turns the light on.
The colours are now back to normal and it is in high definition so the audience now know we are in
the movie. Even though he turns the light on it is still a very dark house this I believe is there to show
that this man is lonely and he lives on his own. There are empty take away boxes on the table in the
middle of the room, once again this indicates to the audience that this man is living on his own,
thought society perceived stereotypes. The family film we saw before links to this it must be his
daughter and his family he had in the past.
From this first minute of film we can tell a lot about the film and the audience can already work out
the basic path of the movie. This shows how important it is to get the first scene of a movie correct
because it keeps the audience interested.
