This presentation can be used to review or explain to your students the layers of the Earth, what makes up the weather and environment problems related to the ozone layer.
It was planned for 4th grade children who are studying in a school belonging to the Bilingual Project of the Autonomus Community of Madrid.
There are videos, games and worksheets attached, thus if you want to take advantage of them, you will have to download the presentation.

At www.makemegeniuos.com
- It is the air that surrounds the Earth.
- It is made up of gases, e.g. nitrogen and oxygen.
- It can be divided into layers.

Phenomena
Lightening is an electrical
discharge that happens when
clouds bump into each other.
Thunder is the noise made by
lightening
Rainbow is an arc of different
colours. It appears when
raindrops disperse sunlight.
Precipitation is water that
falls in the form of rain, snow
or hail.

Which elements
make up weather?
- At low temperatures (2 oC), it's cold.
- At high temperatures (40 oC), it's hot.
- Between 20-40 oC, it's warm.
- We use a thermometer to measure temperature.

Precipitation
- It happens when the water drops fall to the
ground.
- Rain: drops of water fall.
- Snow: ice crystals form snowflakes due to cold
temperatures.
- Hail: balls of ice fall.
- We use a rain gauge to measure rainfall.

Wind
- Wind is moving air. It has direction and speed.
- A breeze is a gentle wind.
- A hurricane is a very strong wind.
- We use a weathervane to find out wind direction.
- We use an anemometer to measure wind speed.

Air pollution: what it is and
how it damages our planet
Ozone layer
- Air pollution happens when the atmosphere
contains too much of a gas from industries,
vehicles, homes...
- It destroys the ozone layer.
1 2 3
The ozone layer is like a
shield. It stops the Sun's
harmful rays.
Some aerosols are
making the ozone layer
thinner.
Thus, living things receive
harmful rays that damage
the skin.

Air pollution: what it is and how it
damages our planet
Global warming
- Due to the gases in the atmosphere, the Earth is
getting warmer.
Inside a greenhouse is
warm because it lets the
heat in and stops it from
escaping.
There are gasses called
greenhouse gases in the
Earth's atmosphere. They
work in the same way. It's
the greenhouse effect.
Burning fuel produces
more greenhouse
gases.
