1 Kings 7 1 But Solomon was building his own
house thirteen years, and he finished all his house.
He finished the temple in seven years
and six months.
It was only 2700 square feet in the main building.
Solomon’s palace was much larger: 11,250
square feet in the main building;
Plus he had multiple buildings in a complex.
4. 4
He had, not only his living quarters,
But also government offices, the hall of
judgment, the armory, a huge courtyard,
and more.
5. 5
8 …. Solomon made also
an house for Pharaoh's
daughter, whom he had
taken to wife, like unto
this porch.

6. 6
10 And the foundation was of costly stones, even
great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of
eight cubits. 11 And above were costly stones, after
the measures of hewed stones, and cedars.
He built a solid foundation before he added the
more beautiful stones and timber.
10 cubits = 180 inches = 15 feet cubed.
8 cubits = 144 inches = 12 feet cubed
Palestinian limestone can be cut with a saw when
freshly quarried, but hardens when exposed to the
elements.

13 And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of
Tyre. 14 He was a widow's son of the tribe of
Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a
worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom,
and understanding, and cunning to work all works
in brass. And he came to King Solomon, and
wrought all his work.
Now he begins to make it look good.
8. 8
21 And he set up the pillars
in the porch of the temple:
and he set up the right pillar,
and called the name thereof
Jachin: and he set up the left
pillar, and called the name
thereof Boaz. 22 And upon
the top of the pillars was lily
work: so was the work of
the pillars finished.
Jakin means “He
[Yahweh] establishes,”
and Boaz means “In
Him [Yahweh] is
strength.”

A church can’t be built upon
personalities, but upon God.

23 And he made a molten
sea, ten cubits from the
one brim to the other: it
was round all about, and
his height was five cubits:
and a line of thirty cubits
did compass it round
about.
(it held 11,500 gallons)
This basin served as a
reservoir for the temple
courtyard.

51 So was ended all the work that king Solomon
made for the house of the LORD. And Solomon
brought in the things which David his father had
dedicated; even the silver, and the gold, and the
vessels, did he put among the treasures of the
house of the LORD.
The temple and his palace with all they
contained was an immense treasure.
He built it all on a strong foundation.
11. 11
We are building a life in Jesus Christ.
If you are born again – born of the Spirit of
God into the family of God –
Saved from sin and from hell through the
Blood of Jesus Christ –
You have a great start for a
wonderful life.

Luke 6 47 Whosoever cometh to Me, and heareth
My Sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to
whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an
house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on
a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat
vehemently upon that house, and could not shake
it: for it was founded upon a rock.
The only solid foundation for
your life is truly living
The Word of God.
13. 13
Proverbs 10 24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come
upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be
granted. 25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the
wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting
foundation.
Whether speaking of your personal life, a family,
a culture, or a church
The righteous is an everlasting foundation.
Without righteous people, no culture, no church,
no nation, no family will long survive.
14. 14
Luke 6 49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like
a man that without a foundation built an house
upon the earth; against which the stream did beat
vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of
that house was great.
James 1 22 But be ye doers of the Word, and not
hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
15. 15
1 Corinthians 3 11 For other foundation can no man
lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
John 1 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The
same was in the beginning with God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among
us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the
only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Solomon laid a strong foundation
of massive stones.
16. 16
Solomon was building earthly buildings.
We are building lives that will
live forever.
Build on the strong foundation, which is
Jesus Christ, the Word of God.
17. 17
Finish Well.
Hebrews 10 38 Now the just
shall live by faith: but if any
man draw back, My Soul
shall have no pleasure in
him. 39 But we are not of
them who draw back unto
perdition; but of them that
believe to the saving of the
soul.
Plow out the row,
straight and true.
Don’t even look back.
