• Log into MarketWatch
• Select the Games section for Virtual Stock Exchange
• Click on Create a Game
• This will open another page with a step-by-step instructions for setting up games
• First: Select the difficulty level appropriate for your class
The
Normal
Game
in
Virtual
Stock
Exchange
is
a
more
realis*c
game
where
students
are
given
a
fic**ous
budget
which
to
invest.
The
Instructor
can
also
opt
to
allow
trading
on
margin
and
set
interest
rates,
stock
prices
and
trading
volume
limits,
among
other
seGngs.
Trading
occurs
using
the
Trading
Card,
a
unique
method
of
making
mul*ple
trades
simultaneously,
with
an
easy
way
to
balance
investments
evenly
across
mul*ple
instruments.
Types
of
trades
supported
include:
Buying,
Selling,
Short,
and
Buy
to
Cover,
and
the
Game
Creator
has
full
control
over
whether
these
are
allowed
in
the
game.
Symbols
that
are
traded
appear
in
the
player s
porMolio,
where
the
player
may
trade
again
to
realize
a
profit
(or
loss).
Symbols
that
are
bough
may
be
sold,
and
symbols
that
were
sold
short
can
be
bought
to
cover
the
short.
The
Normal
Game
is
a
good
way
to
introduce
students
to
more
advanced
market
concepts
and
provides
a
useful
method
of
making
mul*ple
trades
at
one
*me.
The
Advanced
Game
in
Virtual
Stock
Exchange
offers
the
most
op*ons
and
flexibility
for
the
Game
Creator.
Like
the
Normal
Game,
students

Name

Date
Op:ons
• Create a name for your game
• MarketWatch will create a URL for your specific game to share with students
• Start/End Dates: allows users to customize the time period for trading
• All games must Start/End on open market days. If users choose a non-open market day, the
game will use the next available date.
• Additional customization options include creating a tagline for your game and game image (school
logo, mascot, etc.)

Symbol
Restric:ons
• Here you can select the types of securities your students can trade
• By default, players can trade all types of symbols
• If you would like to limit trading to selected symbols, enter the symbols you would like
• Use this option to set up custom simulations for sectors; i.e. Energy, Technology, etc.
• Note: only U.S. stocks and funds can be traded in VSE

• Your class game can be viewed by anyone on the internet through search or with the web
address for the game
• Private (recommended)
• Your game requires a password and individual log-in. All information in the game will be
available to users with the password
• You will be prompted to create a 6-20 character password for your game

• Maximum starting cash is $25,000,000

Your

• The last step is to review all your settings and
make any changes
• If everything is correct, select Create Game
• You will be taken to the Welcome page of your
newly created VSE game and will receive a
confirmation email
• After entering you password, select Rules &
Administration to invite players, review game rules
or end your game.
