Lessons from Experience Strongly influenced by exacerbating issues, such as: lack of urban management, development plans, land tenure security, urbanization, human behavior (ie: solid waste disposal and treatment). Private sectors involvement are important (food industries, insurance companies, manufacture, etc) Decentralization policy & existing participatory planning & budgeting mechanism are opportunity for sustainability, but lack of local government capacity Coordination among national government institutions to build linkages
