• List at least 2 projects
• Email co-ordinator (Sami)
• A confirmed list of projects will
be posted in Learnline no later
than Monday Week 2
23. Own Project
• To be eligible, you must have GPA to
date of 5.0 or higher.
• If you have a likely project in mind –
discuss with supervisors present to
ascertain viability
• Ensure you provide as much detail
as possible regarding your project
• You may need to discuss/defend
your project with a panel of IT
lecturers for confirmation.
24. Own Project
If you are eligible to do your own project:
• Complete an Own Choice Project
• Submit to Co-ordinator no later than
Wednesday COB. Late applications will
NOT be accepted.
• Project will be assessed by IT academics
to decide if the project is suitable and a
supervisor allocated.

• Mentor the student.
• Meet regularly
• Ensure the project work in the Project
Plan is realistic, challenging and of a
suitable standard.
• Help students to structure, manage and
keep the project on track
• Provide technical advice.
• Provide direction & suggestions to help
project progress

presentations to ensure a professional
standard
Assist students to meet the reporting
requirements
Ensure a balance is maintained between
project work and the rest of the student’s
studies.
Mark the assessment items, in conjunction
with other School of Information
Technology staff.
29. Meeting with supervisors
• You are expected to meet with your
supervisor weekly
• By 9.00am Mondays, complete the
project diary
• Project diaries are a component of your
assessment for this semester
• This is required preparation for each
meeting.
– No diary entry = no supervisor meeting
(internal or external)

External students – please note when the key milestones in terms of assessment are due. Make sure when you create your project plan that you include these milestones AND the major activities that will help you achieve the aims of your project.
