Editor's Notes
Hi my name is Ann Halloran, and I set up In-Tuition 25 years ago, having spent about 10 years working in HR and Learning Management. In my consultancy business, I have been fortunate to work with people across all sectors, from multinationals to government bodies to small businesses.I help them plan and manage the learning and development of their staff, and I run programmes on management and leadership skills.I have always been fascinated by how some workplaces just seem to get it right
From what I have seen that is one of the biggest challenges that most organisations face in managing change. You may feel that performance appraisals are an essential part of the performance management system, but it may be hard to sell the relevance of that to a P.I. for example. I have seen companies push through HR systems without considering the readiness of the workforce for such a change. The gap may be bigger than you think… and you need to draw a line in the sand and be totally honest.
ANN NOTE I HAVE INSERTED A QUESTION HERE TO ENCOURAGE INTERACTIONTalking with some business and Not For Profit leaders and managers this is not uncommon. The best laid plans of mice and men ……….Question: In one word, when you enter you’re the office and your team are there waiting for you, how does this feel, look, sound to youAnswers include: Not going well - Pressured, Distracting, Diverting, Ignored, Confusing, Stressful, Hectic, Frustrating, Agonising, Annoying, Stressful, disorganisedOr if it is going well: Calm, focused, happy, collaborative, engaged, clear, working together, Stressless, ordered, organisedI think I know which I prefer……..NEXT SLIDE
