If I was only given 5 minutes to talk to you
and I could convey only ONE thought that
would help you to be more successful, I would
tell you this: ‘Write down your goals, make
plans to achieve them, and work on your plans
every single day.’ This advice, if you followed
it, would be more help to you than almost
anything else you could ever learn.”

MY STORY – every goaling training you can take!
Reminder – “Sometimes we need to be reminded more than we need to be instructed” – Not going to see all new concepts here, but hopefully see opportunity to put your knowledge to work…differently. Learn better when apply, so ask you to participate with yourself. Now, if you would like to share a goal…part of a goal…a thought, an aha PLEASE do, because we all lean from each other. Jump in any time with questions.
Goal setting check up:
What % of time have you run out of gas before completing a goal?
Score your self on work-life balance
Know your ROI on your time? What are you worth per hour?
ID Goal – what is the reason you haven’t achieved it yet?
After the work shop – create a NO list
Ready to go? Write down a “stretch” income goal for 2016.
KNOW to do the right things consistently…REMIND you why…
GRAPH looks at your output potential over the course of a year
Notice 4 lines – represent how well you focus your working hours towards goals
Represents your success if 100%, 80%, 65%, 50%
These # from a study looking @ how long people stuck with a goal at the beginning of year.
36 quit…84 quit….only 8 people made it 12 months! REMIND you WHY you need LT focus
In short term, focus on the pain of work. Turn to escapist activities (veg tv, eat, FB) – YOU?
QUIT @ 1st obstacle!
**Don’t confuse being BUSY with quality execution** Rate yourself…out of 10 hours a day working towards goals…are you 10/10, 8/10, 5/10? Don’t be discouraged! Awareness ½ the battle!
I also want to focus your attention on the possibilities of harnessing your time..again you KNOW you should, but maybe a needed reminder of WHY
**Look @ income goal for 2016, 100,000….maybe 50%, jump to 75% could realistically hit 200,000
What comes up for you when I say this? Good or bad write down the thought that came to you
HOW DO WE GET HERE?!
Strategic => Moves you towards you vision
Measure your Results AND Performance – break down into milestones
Actionable => Are the tactics in your circle of control
Affordable => Are you really willing to pay the price? Last 5 lb may not be worth it
Rewarding => Aligned with values
Time-write it as if it were true “I weigh 125 pounds”
Leverage –goals cannot work against each other. Harder if you don’t have skill set
You – are your most important roles addressed? Need for balance
Ensure that the goals work together. If you want to save money for a down payment for a new house and you also want to travel on a first class two week vacation to France. Those two goals are not compatible unless you have large amounts of discretionary income coming in.
Several studies have proven that writing down goals typically results in a 5 to 10 fold increase in income. These studies looked at Yale and Harvard graduates. Even when you look at the US population as a whole, only 3% of folks write down their goals and review daily.
Success rates go up for achieving goals when you review the goals daily, or at a minimum weekly.
There is a scientific reason for keeping your goals top of mind. Your subconscious, which accounts for about 90% of your mind’s function, will continue to problem solve and find ways to achieve your goals. This is where you get those AHA moments that come seemingly from nowhere.
AS I mentioned earlier I knew the components of a goal…be SMART, measure something specific, state an action to get there…oh I should think about my WHY
It wasn’t until I more intentionally studied coaching that I had an epiphany about WHY so many of us…self included, fall short, burn out or never really get started around our goals.
DECONSTRUCT…you KNOW these things. Start RIE
**RESULT – what you want to achieve….worded in time, money, weight..
**EXECUTION – HOW – tactics – what problem are solving, how are you impacting customers…
INTEGRITY – Commitment to your WHY. 1st YOUR why? Why you show up day after day, despite obstacles. MUST, not should or would. Few people take the time to get to the root of their WHY
$$$Here is part I see missing in most goal setting books & trainings….Do you have the BELIEF that you deserve this goal, do you have the belief that your skills will get you there? Do you believe in your WHY enough to go on no matter what?
YES?!?! Sweet Spot – you own your power here. Where your focus/determination/mindset converge (We give it away all day long)
**Pull out that goal….what component/s are missing…need bolstering?
