4. Highlights of previous episode(s)
A continuation from the last cliffhanger
Message or messages from “A” (e.g – “Wanna help
Mama get $$$? Show Aria’s Mom what her kid’s been
hiding. -A “
“If Zoey leaves without your digits, your lab results
go viral. –A”
(“A” send a picture of Emily’s lab results as proof)
5. Recurring flashbacks of when “Alison (“A”) was
alive) to explain the way a character is behaving to
a situation. E.g. – Hanna crying while having to eat
a ton of cupcakes, Alison helped her overcome her
weight issues.
The occasional lie to get around or out of a
situation. A lie to cover up a lie, e.g – Emily faking
a “maybe acceptance” letter from a university so
she doesn’t have to move, throws it away but then
receives it again in the post (from “A”) and has to
end up pretending to her mum that she’s happy.
6. Plan of action to find out the truth e.g – Find
out what really happened the night Alison

A Cliffhanger – that then links to a person with
black gloves writing a message or taking an
item from on one the main characters rooms.
“A” erases Emily’s laptop hard drive to get rid of any
evidence revealing information about Alison’s death
7. The main girls of the show speak as normal teenager girls
(non-formal).
The adults speak in mature way to show status (formal)
There is also dramatic talk within the show, “I saw the way
you were looking at him yesterday. I have eyes. Find
someone who’s available. My dad isn’t.” and also a hint of
comedy within, “I went to fat camp for five summers, I can
handle some woods”.
Sometimes the teenagers use long words to show how smart
they are (e.g Troian Bellisario’s character is known as the
academic one of the group)
