Birth order and personality is the link between your order of
birth (first born, second born, last born or only child) and the
personality traits developed from this.
Birth order is also linked with delinquency, intelligence and
various factors other than just personality.
Longitudinal studies have been done and show that
personality traits shaped from birth order af fect the
profession you go in to. For example, in a study 119 medical
students were given a questionnaire, and 78 of them were
first born – who’s personality traits are hard working.

4. NEXT STEPS…
Plan and run my own study to collect data
To do this I will research the supposed personality traits
shown by first born, middle born, last born or only child.
I will then design a questionnaire with the first question
asking if they were first born, second, etc…
An example of one question could be ‘do you see yourself as
independent?’ and I will use a Likert scale for the respondent
to answer
