This document outlines information about the WikiSkills project, which was funded by the European Commission. The project developed an innovative training curriculum focused on effective use of wikis in educational settings to achieve learning objectives and foster community among Europe. 2. Summary Objecves
Wikis are simple to use, asynchronous, web-
based collaborave hypertext authoring
systems. Recently, Wikis have been widely used
in various sectors and levels of educaon, as
they can enhance collaborave learning.
In a wiki-based learning scenario, parcipants
co-edit web pages. During such processes, peer
interacon can movate parcipants, who
construct synergically shared knowledge.
Within common learning scenarios,
parcipants from different educaonal sectors,
cultures and ages (schools, universies,
professional and adult training) will learn how
to use wikis for their socio-professional
development.
The project will develop, implement and
evaluate an innovave training curriculum
focusing on how to make the best use of wiki
environments in educaonal sengs, so to
reach high learning objecves and foster a
community of learners among Europe.
Provide opportunies for meaningful
collaborave learning acvies;
Promote digital literacy, as well as social
skills, wring skills and crical thinking;
Develop a sustainable virtual community of
pracce among the different project
countries;
Enable educaonal communies to
contribute to the actual informaon
society;
Empower civic behaviours, social inclusion,
employability and cultural understanding.
WikiSkills promotes innovave pedagogical
approaches that foster creavity,
compeveness, employability and
entrepreneurial spirit, equity, social cohesion
and acve cizenship.
