1. Phases of moon:
There are eight phases of moon are given below:
(WAXING HALF)
(waning half)
2. • This is when the moon is positioned
between the Earth and the Sun, so that
the side of the moon illuminated by the
sun is facing away from Earth. During a
new moon, the side of the moon that is
lit is facing away from us, making it
appear completely dark.
3. • After the new moon, a small portion of
the sunlit side becomes visible from
Earth. This is known as a waxing
crescent. It appears as a thin, curved
crescent shape in the sky.
4. (WAXING HALF)
• At this point, half of the moon is
illuminated and half is in shadow. This is
when the right half of the moon is lit,
and the left half is in shadow.
5. • The term "gibbous" means more than
half but not fully illuminated. A waxing
gibbous moon is more than half but not
fully illuminated and is on the way to
becoming a full moon.
6. • A full moon occurs when the moon is
positioned directly opposite the Sun
relative to Earth. This means the entire
sunlit side of the moon is facing Earth,
making it appear fully illuminated and
round.
7. • After the full moon, the illuminated
portion begins to decrease, and it is
referred to as a waning gibbous. Like the
waxing gibbous, it is more than half but
not fully illuminated.
8. (waning half)
• During this phase, the left half of
the moon is illuminated, and the
right half is in shadow.
9. • The moon continues to decrease in
illumination until it reaches a thin
crescent shape again. This is known
as a waning crescent.
