18. Evacuation Routes
Could be used to depart the island or provide a gateway for
receiving emergency supplies
Air Evacuation. A helicopter site has been identified in Duck
Creek Park.
Marine Evacuation Routes.
• Two are identified at the end of Monteith Road.
• Possible evacuation could be by Vesuvius ferry.

We have considerable Assets:
Threats: medical emergency, compromised structures, fallen trees
and electrical wires.
• Skills: Nurses (variety including Paediatric), Doctors,
Builders, Engineers, Electricians, Pharmacists
• Equipment: chain saws, generators, tools
Threats: loss of communication infrastructure (cell towers
down, Shaw down, Telus down)
• Communications (a basket of options)
– Telus land lines, Shaw phone, cell phone
– Radios (Public AM, FM; Marine, FRS/GMRS, HAM)
