2. 4. How did you use media
technologies in the construction
and research, planning and
evaluation stages?
3. Media Technologies
Near enough all work was done by using
some sort of media technology.
Unlike coursework in other subjects, the
coursework for ours is done with New
Media.
By uploading coursework to different
websites and blogging our work we are
4. Research
In my research I used the internet to find out about magazine
covers.
Using the archive facilities on Empire Magazine made it easy to
look for and review magazine covers.
I could also Google for Total Film covers.
I also used YouTube to look at previous trailers.
Looking on Google images and Youtube gives you a quick and
simple way of looking at codes and conventions.
5. Research
I also used Microsoft Word.
I used this when designing my questionnaire.
To make my questionnaire I didn’t need to
use this software, I could have written it by
hand but it was time saving and more
efficient.
On Excel I then made some fancy graphs
with my data.
6. Planning
In planning I scanned in
images that I had.
When I was planning my
cover for my magazine
an early idea I had I
drew out on paper first,
then scanned it into the
computer so I could blog
it.
7. Planning
I also made some Powerpoint
presentations when planning.
My costumes, cast and make up were
discussed on a presentation.
My shooting schedule was also made on
Microsoft Word.
8. Construction
This is where using media
technologies was probably the
most important.
I used Photoshop for my print
work, iMovie for my trailer along
with Garageband.
Without these pieces of software it
would have been impossible to
make the products that I did.
For my construction media
technologies were very important.
9. Construction
To assist my construction I also downloaded
some fonts from DaFont.com and
Abstractfonts.com
These websites offer free fonts that can be
used.
This was an important thing to do as it meant
we could have fonts that linked in with our
chosen film genres.
10. Construction
To collect images and clips we used cameras and
video cameras.
The images and video had to be our own so using
these 2 technologies meant we could create our
coursework.
Using a micro USB cable we then connected them to
the computers we were using. From there you can
import the files and start editing them.
11. Construction and Evaluation
The created trailers were shared to
iDVD through iMovie.
This gave us the chance to burn off
DVDs of our work so it could be
evaluated.
12. Evaluation
For my evaluation I decided to do my questions
in a power point.
Using a power point makes viewing pictures
easier and it is a clearer, shorter way of
expressing the key information about your
products.
My work was all blogged to Blogger, explaining
and uploading my work there is a big way I used
media technology in my evaluation.
13. In Detail - Blogger
All my work was uploaded to Blogger.
Blogger allows you to upload
presentations, videos, images and text.
Posts can be tagged meaning that all
work can be grouped. This meant it was
easy to distinguish between AS and A2
media.
14. In Detail - Vimeo
I uploaded all my trailers to Vimeo
along with some other video
explanations for my coursework.
A free website Vimeo was very
important in using different forms of
media to evaluate and analyse work
that I did.
Taking embedded links from their
website I could put a direct link on my
blog so my videos appear directly
there.
15. In detail - Adobe Photoshop
Photoshop was how we created our print
work.
You can alter images that you have taken, introduce
new fonts that you can download and change the
layout.
By saving our files as a jpg we could then upload them
to Blogger to show off our work.
16. In Detail - Apple iMovie Hd
This was the software we used to
create our trailers.
Here you can drag in clips that we got from
the video cameras and can edit them
By using Garageband you can also drag in
your own created music to use on projects.
