2. Why is it so important to
read over the summer?
This year, 59% of students in grades 3-5 had
summer reading loss (64% of 3rd graders, 69% of
4th graders, 42% of 5th graders).
40% of all our students had summer reading
loss.
Summer reading loss is cumulative; by middle
school, this means a potential total loss of
2 YEARS!
