FIRST 2 WEEK LESSONS AND HOMEWORK
MAKE SURE YOU PRESENT ALL TASKS IN YOUR BOOK CONNECTING THEM TO
THE RELEVANT ARTISTS IN THIS PRESENTATION. YOU HAVE CLASSWORK AN D
HOMEWORK TIME TO COMPLETE THESE OVER THE FIRST 2 WEEKS.
2. LESSON 1
You should now have a new A4 or A3 sketchbook for your Exam
You will go over 3 presentations in class with your teacher. These themes are “Broken”
“Extreme Contrast” and “Personal Space.”
1. Note down any ideas and artists in the Power-point that you are interested in.
2. Create a written and visual mind map of your chosen theme in your sketchbook.
3. HOMEWORK (DUE 2ND LESSON)
Bring in an object to draw from that relates to your chosen theme.
Ideas for Broken: Broken/old toys, electronic equipment that could be taken apart,
broken objects, ripped photos,
Ideas for Personal Space: House keys, personal collections, private sentimental
objects, letters,
Ideas for Extreme Contrasts: two opposite objects…opposite functions/opposing
colours/textures/feel/purpose etc
5. HOMEWORK (DUE AFTER HALF-TERM)
Research 3 artists on your theme.
1. Present these in your book explaining what the artist made, why they created it,
and how it links to your theme. (1 page per artist including photos/transcriptions
etc)
2. Create a practical response to each artist you have chosen. The practical response
should be inspired by the artist and can either be completed in your book or
outside of your book.
6. LESSONS 4,5,6
Make 3 further studies of your object(s). Use:
1. Inks on brown paper
2. Watercolour
3. Chalk pastels
4. Flat colour
5. Single line drawings
Try to vary the angles you draw from, some close
up sections etc…
