Educational game pitch
1.
2. We have been asked to create a educational
game that will teach the player something by
the end.
It would also be preferable if it was slightly fun
and interesting as well so it would be more
appealing to play.
3. My idea involves getting inspiration from another
popular game surgeon simulator to make a fun
educational game about building/upgrading a
computer.
In the end I hope for a functional
game as well as a game pitch
which explains to the audience
my goal.
4. To properly make the game I will need to take
advantage if industry level software including;
3DS Max - £2,200~
Unity - £919~
Photoshop - £300~
This will allow me to produce high quality
models, animations, terrain and complex game
mechanics, as well as make high quality sprites using
Photoshop.
5. The game will be inspired off the popular
game Surgeon Simulator but instead of trying
to replace body
parts your replacing
parts of a computer or
even building a
computer from scratch.
6. So far in the production of the game, I have
the models which I am going to use finished
/ available for use so the only thing that
needs to be done is the coding and the
terrain
plus textures for
all the models and
other objects.
7. You will start off replacing parts of the computer
one at a time with the tools you will “need” or will
need in real life.
Each level will cover a different scenario with the
final level being to make the whole computer
from scratch with the tools needed to build it.
8. Hints will appear on the screen and around the
game space, they can vary to quick snippets of a
installation tutorial for a certain part of a moving
diagram showing where parts go.
This will help players who
don’t remember how to
install specific parts from
the tutorial levels.
9. There will also be a few “unneeded tools” that
players can use as stress relief similar to what's in
Surgeon Simulator.
The ability to stray away from the main aim of the
game to cause havoc is a
good stress reliever which can
add a bit of fun to a mainly
educational game.
10. I got a lot of inspiration from surgeon simulator
because the game is designed around “carefully”
placing and removing things from the body.
This is similar to building or upgrading a PC due to the
parts being fragile as well as certain tools that are
needed to perform the procedure.
Also the comedic effect of Surgeon Simulator where
you can purposely make things go wrong can be
incorporated into my game to make it funny.
11. I did research on the games subject before hand to
gain a more clear concept for the game.
In the report I argued over the question of “Is it
easy to build a PC?” to gain information on how
to actually build and upgrade it therefore
knowing how to build on my game better.
