3D laser scanners from FARO use laser technology to deliver highly detailed 3D Documentation. 3D images of complex environments and geometries can be generated in mere minutes. Use them for accident reconstruction, 3D modelling of process plants, architectural preservation tasks, digital factory layouts or deformation monitoring.

  2. 2. SCENE Evolution Version 5.0 Version 4.8 Support for new Automatic Registration Focus3D-S sensors Version 4.7 No Targets WebShare, Correspondence View Project Database All New Code, Fine Registration 64-Bit & Version 4.6 Multi-Threading Project Point Cloud Automatic Target 3D stereo viewing Identification & Scan Placement ASTM E57 support Version 4.5 WebShare: Measurements over Cluster Registration & the internet one-click Object Markers
  3. 3. New Features - Support for new Focus3D-S sensors  Dual Axis Compensator (formerly know as “Inclination Sensor”) is used to make sure that the scan data is leveled and cannot be tilted during the registration.  Compass gives each scan an orientation. This information is used during registration to avoid wrong orientations due to ambiguous target situations.  Altimeter (or height sensor) is determining the height of the scanner by measuring the air pressure. This additional information is as well used during registration.
  4. 4. Project Database - Basics  Storage and management of point data of a Scan Project Scan Project Project Scans Point Clouds Workspace Scan Point Project Clouds Point Cloud
  5. 5. Project Database - Basics  Versioning – Revision system storing space-efficient relative changes – Project history supporting revert and export 0 • „Created project workspace with scans“ 1 • „Filtered and colorized Scans“ • „Registered cluster 1“ Revision 2 History 3 • „Registered cluster 2“ 4 • „Created project point cloud“ … • …
  6. 6. New Features - Fine Registration Mean deviation improvement: 26,7mm 1,3mm
  7. 7. New Features – Project Point Cloud (Spatial Database)* Max size = 2^63 Points ca. 9.223.372.036.854.775.808 points (9.2 quinttillion points). That would require ca. 25 Mio. Terabyte compressed storage space.
  8. 8. New Features - Viewing  New 3D view toolbar (i.e. direct access to point size, gap filling and ClearView)  New Camera alignment tools  Scaled Grids  New 3D Brush Selector  Improved 3D gap filling  Measurements in 3D view  OverviewMap available in Scene  3D-Viewing mode
  9. 9. New Features – Import and Export of ATSM E57 file format• See http://www.libe57.org/products.html
  10. 10. New Features – Bits and Pieces  Export of color scans does now export intensity (grey) and RGB values in one step (for export format which support this, i.e. E57, PTX and POD)  Export of scan folders into separate files per scan
  11. 11. New Features – Bits and Pieces  Export of color scans does now export intensity (grey) and RGB values in one step (for export format which support this, i.e. E57, PTX and POD)  Export of scan folders into separate files per scan  Automatic detection of tilted checkerboard targets  GPS coordinate support for references  License request emails by FARO region Images courtesy of Zoller & Fröhlich GmbH
  12. 12. New Features - WebShare 4.9 Easy to use data sharing over the Internet Distance measurements Area measurements in the Overview Map Added information (descriptions, hyper links) Saving and re-using WebShare Sessions
