1. Question 2:How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
By Eleanor Davies
2. Target audience Recap
As said in my pitch, my target audience is young
people aged 16- 24, with interests in film and
music. Due to the age of my target audience, it
is safe to assume that most of them are
students. this means they would probably not
have much money an would be interested in
give always and cheaper products. So to appeal
to that area of my audiences interests I added
pages of give always and discount codes, to try
and attract my audience.
3. Representation
To represent my target audience I included
images of young people in the age group of my
audience. In most of my images, where it fit, I
asked my models to do happier, freer poses, so
that it would make my magazine look friendly
and appealing to young people because it would
feature their age group in the magazine.
4. Content
To make my magazine appeal to and represent particular
social groups (film and music lovers aged 16 – 24), I
added lots of content to do with film, so it would appeal
to them because my magazine is mainly about film and
music which appears in films. This content included, soon
to be released films such as Deadpool, Captain America:
Civil War and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. These are
and will be quite advertised films, so if my audience have
seen something about these films they may be interested
in finding out more, so they would buy the magazine. I
include pages for new released music and charts, because
this would appeal to my audience because they would
h=wan to see what is the best reviewed music.
5. Colours
I used colours such as red, black and white on
my contents page to give my magazine a more
sophisticated, grown up feel. I did this so that
my images with happier looking poses in them
would not look to patronising and childish,
which could drive the audience away. For
instance, if I used lots of brighter, bold colours it
could make the magazine feel like it was for
young children.
