Had the video rental market share for decades. Their failure to
adapt to new technology allowed other companies to come
in and lure away consumers with a more convenient rental
experience.
Founded in 2002, Redbox had the video rental market share in
less than 7 years. By 2009 Redbox was the leader in the video
rental industry.
If Redbox doesn’t adapt to the new technology of streaming
videos, companies like Netflix, Hulu and iTunes will take the
majority of the video rental market.

• The release of the iPhone in 2007 created a major shift as to how people got on
the internet.
• The goal was utilize mobile technology to create a new experience through
GPS capabilities, gamification and mobile devices.
