help your learner improve his or her competency. It’s easy to learn from, but also easy to teach!
Basic Reading develops young learners’ reading ability by presenting high-frequency vocabulary in
reading passages that are structured based on word count. They’re not too long or too short for your
learner. The average length of each passage is 35 words in level 1, 42 words in level 2, and 50 words in
level 3. This makes it easy for readers to build up vocabulary and reading comprehension in a natural,
step-by-step manner.

Consolidates student’s understanding of grammar and
word usage.
Students move from visualizing the meaning of target
vocabulary and thinking about the unit’s topic to
reading the passage and checking comprehension.

• A three-levels series for the young, beginner/upper beginner learner.
• Each unit in Basic Reading 800 Key Words includes eight parts plus additional
review and consolidation activities in the workbook.
• After reading the passage and completing the comprehension check, students
take on writing practice, review target vocabulary, practice sentence patterns,
and participate in listening comprehension and speaking activities.
• A summary of each unit is also provided in the Review section.
