GOVERNMENT OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS
The Government of the Virgin Islands invites qualified and professional applicants to apply for the
post of Engineer III (Sewerage), Water and Sewerage Department.
Main Responsibilities include:
- Serving as Head of the Department’s Sewerage Operations & Development Division
- Manages the planning, development and implementation of sewerage projects as well as the
construction and inspection of the Department’s sewerage works and facilities
- Manages the operations and maintenance of the sewerage system as well as sewage treatment
plants
- Recommends sewerage legislation to the Director in an effort to manage the aesthetics related
to sewage disposal
- Manages procurement, operation and maintenance of plant, tools and equipment used by the
Division in the execution of day-to-day activities
- Manages the operations and maintenance of the sewerage system as well as sewage treatment
plants (Airport, Cane Garden Bay and Paraquita Bay);
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years’ of professional engineering experience, including experience in a public
water and sewerage utility, design and construction, with at least 5 years of experience at
supervisory level
- Good computer skills with literacy in Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Engineering Software
e.g. Sewer CAD
- Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills

2. Salary:
- Entry level $38,269 - $43,013 annually, Grade 12 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

- Tax free Gratuity at 5% of salary (on successful completion of contract)
- Housing Allowance, and Telephone and Travelling Allowances upon acquisition of a telephone

Appointment:
- Two-year contract
- Subject to medical fitness
