4. I believe that both ancillary tasks worked well to
promote the final product as they represented
the film to a standard that would reflect that
of real films. The combination of my ancillary
products is successful as I have tried to
promote the film to a consistently high
standard.
5. Through my ancillary tasks, the audience are
clearly able to see the genre of my trailer-
thriller. This is reflected through the dark
colours and continuous use of the same colour
scheme throughout both products creating a
brand identity and house style.
6. Similarly, by using the main colours of black, red
and white throughout all of my products, the
audience are able to see a continuous trend
and brand identity. As a result of this, they will
be able to recognise and link the two products
together as well as being able to see the
significance they have in relating to the film-
Trace.
7. The font used in both of my ancillary tasks is the
identical to add consistency and reflect the
house style I have tried to create. Whenever
the title, Trace, is seen, the same font has
been used to allow the audience to make links
to the product and the film.
8. This is the final poster for our film- Trace. The
first thing the audience will see is the point of
view shot in place of the camera lens. As the
image shows Belle walking in front, unaware
that someone is following her, it suggests to the
audience that the film may be based upon a
stalker/ victim plot. This is further emphasised
through the films title- Trace.
Definition of trace:
To follow the footprints or track of
something/someone
9. Although the main aim of the film magazine
front cover was to promote my own film, I
wanted to include other attracting features
that would entice someone into wanting to
read further into the magazine. For example,
I’ve used the technique of offering a free
movie planner to attract audiences into buying
the product .The main image is of Trace’s
stalker character, Cindy, against a stormy
backdrop. Here, I’ve used pathetic fallacy to
reflect the genre and theme for “the thriller
issue” which allows the audience to know the
genre of my trailer from the outset.
10. The use of the ancillary tasks alongside the
trailer of my film enhances the audiences
awareness of the film. Also, the products have
been created to attract people into watching
the film whilst remaining to keep the plot
under wraps to prevent the audiences from
already knowing the story before they've even
seen the film. The products don’t give too
much away yet they still engage the reader
enough to make them want to see the film.
11. Overall, I feel that the ancillary tasks work well
and offer an effective and strong way to
promote my film as well as working well
together. All of these have proved, through
research, to be an effective way of appealing
to a large audience of a mass market.
