When the temperature of a hydrothermal resource is around 220F or 105C and up, it can be used to generate electricity, but geothermal reservoir’s heat may reach 400-600C.
The hot water is passed by a secondary fluid with a much lower boiling point than water (organic compound). This causes the secondary fluid to flash vaporize in the heat exchanger, which then drives the turbines.
