Question 7
1. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
2. When creating my final product, I was more comfortable with the software I was using. Although having some Photoshop experience, I felt that as I progressed, my final product looks more professional than my preliminary task. Having had no experience in Quark, I found it harder to use the different tools. However, I grasped the tools when it came to my final product.
3. As you can see, my creativity has highly improved. My mast head is more creative, without a coloured background to make it unique. My coverlines are not overlapping onto my main image which shows that my layout has become more structured. I also made my coverlines stand which was due to learning how to use different effects on Photoshop such as a drop shadow. I included a price and issue date on my final production and also a more creative positioning statement. My main image on the final product conveys more of an attitude to suggest my genre and also the image looks professional whereas my preliminary image has been cut poorly.
4. Using QuarkXPress for the first time challenged my creativity in the preliminary task but as you can as I developed my skills, I could create a more professional look on my final product. I made the masthead smaller on my final product in order to allow more space for my content. I also used my masthead from the front cover to my magazine look consistent. I made the headings equal because as you can, on my preliminary product the headings are not equal. My pictures are more engaging on my final product and are varied for the reader. I have also included a subscription box which looks very professional. As you can see, my final product’s layout seem very professional as I have structured it well and included more content. This is due to the fact that I learnt how to use different effects and techniques.
