2. Use of the passive voice
Passive voice is used when the focus is on the action.
Examples:
The house was built in 1980.
The road is being repaired.
Sometimes we use the passive when we don't know who or
what performed the action:
Every year people are killed on our streets.
If we want to say who performs the action, we can use 'by':
The house was painted by them.
3. Form of the passive verb of the
Present Simple
We have to start the sentence with the object.
We have to use the verb “to be” at the same time that the
main verb and this same verb in past participle.
Examples:

The teacher checks my test.
My test is checked by the teacher.
I answer this question.
This question is answered by me.
He paints your car.
Your car is painted by him.
4. Form of the passive verb of the
Past Simple
We have to start the sentence with the object.
We have to use the past verb “to be (was/were)” and using
the past participle of the main verb.

The keys were lost by my brother.
I studied the lesson.
The lesson was studied by me.
They ate chicken.
Chicken was eaten by them.
5. Form of the passive verb of the
Present Perfect
We have to start the sentence with the object.
We have to use the auxiliary verb “to have”+ the past
participle “to be”+ the past participle of the main verb.

The lesson has been studied by my
brother.
I have painted your house.
Your house has been painted by me.
They have broken the door.
The door has been broken by them.
6. Form of the passive verb of the
Past Perfect Simple
We have to start the sentence with the object.
We have to use the auxiliary past verb “to have (had)”+
the past participle “to be”+ the past participle of the main
verb.

Future with will
We have to start the sentence with the object.
We have to use will + “to be”+ the past participle of the
main verb.

Going to future
We have to start the sentence with the object.
We have to use “to be”+ “going to” + “to be” + the past
participle of the main verb.

Modal verbs
We have to start the sentence with the object.
We have to use “modal verb”+ “to be” + the past participle
of the main verb.

The lesson has to be studied by my

We have to start the sentence with the object, in this case
is “your house”.
Then we have to set the verb “to be” at the same time that
the main verb, in this case the main verb is in present
“paint” then the verb “to be” would be as “is”.
Finally we have to use the main verb in past participle
“painted”.
