creating one of the biggest entertainment and content companies worldwide. Disney+ is
launching in December and Netflix lost users for the first time.

They say history tends to repeat itself and just like what it did to music, digital has completely transformed
the TV industry. But rather than heed the warning signs, listen to frustrated consumers or embrace new
models enabled by technology, TV networks were more concerned with negotiating favorable affiliate
contracts, not upsetting the MVPDs (multichannel video programming distributors) such as Comcast or
Charter, and preserving the status quo. It was comfortable. It was how business has always been done.

Just like E-commerce, the direct-to-consumer subscription video market is also being dominated by
Amazon.
According to The Diffusion Group’s report The Future of Direct-to-Consumer Video Services – Analysis
& Forecasts, 2018-2022, more than half of all direct-to-consumer subscription video purchases are made
directly through Amazon Prime Channels.
In a focus group conducted by OTT consulting company, 43Twenty, a majority of respondents reported
that they would rather purchase a subscription video service through an OTT aggregator rather than
