The 20th Century was one of the bloodiest times in human history. It was a time of war, with death
tolls from politically motivated conflicts between 175 and 200 million worldwide. Over the course
of the century, the nature of war blurred and then wrecked older distinctions between battlefield and
city, soldier and civilian, peacetime and wartime. In this essay I will talk about how the role of the

Capa's career as a journalist had him witnessing five different wars. The Spanish Civil War, the
second Sino Japanese war, World War 2. He manages to capture amazing and powerful photographs
that gave people chills. In this essay I'm going to compare two of his photographs from each of the
wars to show not only how he capture the bloodshed of war, but also the people who are living
through, Some are unexpectedly hopeful.
In 1938 at the age of 25. He was hailed as the "greatest war photo her in the world" in British
magazine Picture Post. Captured at the start of the Spanish Civil war showing the moment of a
bullet's impacts on a loyalist soldiers. This photo became the emblem of wartime photojournalism of

picture press agency Magnum Photos in the late 1940's.

In the works Thin Blue Line, Capturing the Friedmans, and Vertigo the creation of reality and the
truth brings justice to wrongdoers, and those who have been wronged. Specifically, the
documentaries Thin Blue Line, and Capturing the Friedmans create a reality that is ambiguous in an
effort to show that no one actually know the truth of the situations in the documentaries. Meanwhile
in the film Vertigo Scottie recreates his past lover, and inadvertently brings the truth out about her

In the film, Scottie quickly falls with the heroine Madeline, and through a series of unfortunate
events sees her jump to her death. However, one day when walking the streets of the city, he spots a
woman,Judy, who likes strikingly similar to his past lover. After spotting her he impulsively begins
to recreate the reality of Madeline through Judy by forcing her to dye her hair, and wear the same
exact clothes Madeleine wore, and Rothman describes Scottie's "refusal to let his love be lost" as the
source of these monstrous actions (Rotham 231). However, it is this inability to let his past go that
leads him to recreate a reality and bring forth the truth. Even so, after he recreates his lover
Madeleine, it is not until Judy makes the mistake of wearing the same neckless his former lover did
that sparks realization for Scottie. After seeing this he is prompted to take Judy to the sight where
Madeleine was killed, and confront her about her involvement in the murder of Madeline. After
overcoming his vertigo, Scottie find himself at the top of the bell tower with Judy, where she ends
up jumping to her death. In doing so, retributive justice is brought to Madeline seeing that her killer
dies the same way she did. However, none of this would have not been possible without Scottie's

Should Marijuana Be Legal?
What is the new question on the table with politicians and law enforcement officials alike? The
question is whether or not it is time to legalize, tax, and create a lucrative industry out of marijuana.
For a few decades now the idea of legalizing marijuana has been met with fierce opposition and

What potential domino effects would this act show under a macro–level analysis? I feel that a
socialized shift will come out of both the economic crisis and the legalization of marijuana. A
somewhat more Marxist style of social order could possibly be the end result of all of this. The
common sense of it seems to be the driving factor for this movement. It is no longer seen as being a
desperate plea from stoned out hippies. This idea has reached some of the highest offices in our
land. States have already begun to ratify and reform laws based on marijuana (Cohen, 2009). The
only issue that I can see is the culture shock that the country would feel. It would be a radical
difference from what we have been used to. "What 's that you say? You can buy rolled joints at the
Exxon?" These types of questions will be the tip of the iceberg. After a little bit of time, people will
become comfortable with the idea and a new page will be turned in the American history books. We
have seen a few countries receive a significant revenue boost after legalizing marijuana. California
has reformed laws to also potentially gain revenue from marijuana. Will America finally come

The story of Capturing the Friedman and The Imposter are unique and interesting; however, The
Imposter delivers a more meaningful message and imposes stronger emotional impacts on the
audience. The movie's title, The Imposter, does a great job to capture the audience's impression and
curiosity, for they are craving to know who is the real imposter. Opposed to Capturing the Friedman,
which has no one narratives the story, The Imposter uses Frederic Bourdin as the core and lead the
